About our sunroom contractor business in Ontario
How I got into building sunrooms
I spent my first years on a big commercial outfit's framing and glazing crews, putting up storefronts and office buildings. A storefront either keeps the water out or it doesn't, and everybody walking past can see which. I started this business in 2013 so I could build for homeowners the same careful way, with fewer meetings.
Most people in Ontario who call us want an extra room they'll actually use, not one more place to store the patio furniture. So I spend the extra hour on what the room sits on and on the joint where it meets your house, because that's where leaks start. I'd rather find a problem there myself than have you find it in the first big rain. That's how we've earned a name for sunrooms and patio enclosures that stay dry.
What you can count on when we build your room
We plan around how you'll use the room
Before anyone orders a single pane of glass, we talk through how you'll use the room and whether it'll be heated, because that decides between a three season and a four season room. Get that wrong and you've paid for a nice view of a room you avoid.
We check what it sits on before we price it
I come out myself to measure and look over your slab, deck or patio cover, so your new room ends up on something that can carry it and the price reflects what that really takes. I stay on your job through the final walkthrough, so what you told me at the start doesn't get lost on the way to the crew.
A quote that says what's in and what isn't
Our written quote spells out items like insulation, heating and cooling, and permit work, so you can line it up fairly against anyone else's. When a job needs a permit, we prepare the plans, file them with the city and schedule the inspections, and we tell you up front that city review takes time, then keep you posted while it runs.
Licenses and insurance
California contractor license
The state licensing board requires a current license from anyone contracting for work that needs a building permit, uses workers or adds up to $1,000 or more in labor and materials, which covers most sunroom and patio enclosure jobs. We're fully licensed and insured, our own crew does the building, and licensed electricians and heating and cooling trades come in where the job calls for them.
City of Ontario business license
The city requires a business license before a business starts work in Ontario, and contractors based outside the city apply the same way local ones do. It's a fair question to ask any contractor before they start on your house.
